Yesterday at our 22nd District Executive Committee, one of the Post Commanders stated his Post has applied for a COVID-19 ECONOMIC INJURY DISASTER LOAN from the Small Business Association. Information on applying for this loan can be found here.
In reviewing the Eligible Entity Verification section of the website, I found the following under the application process:
Applicant is a private non-profit organization that is a non-governmental agency or entity that currently has an effective ruling letter from the IRS granting tax exemption under sections 501(c),(d), or (e) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1954, or satisfactory evidence from the State that the non-revenue producing organization or entity is a non-profit one organized or doing business under State law, or a faith-based organization.
I asked our Department Judge Advocate if Posts can apply for this disaster loan. He stated that Posts can apply. This process may be a way that Department of Texas Posts can get some financial assistance during this pandemic. You may want to share this information with Posts in your areas.
Continuing to look for ways to support our Posts.
Yours in Service,
Butch
